I am going to guess that without a doubt [Razz] it is group III and PAO . [Smile] I believe it to be very good oil although there is not one analysis here . Low cost on the west coast , correct ?

Here is the data sheet if interested . BTW , what engine are you using this in ? 5w-40 And here is an interesting race oil that I presume would be very streetable . I am curious to it's pricing .If it is 4 bucks or so with the higher zinc and if it's D/D pack was streetable it would be a good option to many 30wt synlubes . 76 High Performance Track Oil And while I was there I saw the 0w-30 Artic Synthetic thinking it would be hard to get in San Diego [Smile] 0w-30 Diesel Oil

Im going to try it in a lancer evolution 2.0 Turbo. That Track oil looks interesting. I got it at Cosby oil in Norwalk. look at that TBN.

Isn't this a contradiction? -T

I was wrong it was in Inglewood. The Rep told me that the Kendall 5W-40 or the 76 Pure Synthetic was a PAO but was not able to confirm. When I called cosby oil the salesman read off the specs and said PAO along with a bunch of other gibber jabber, I heard PAO and thought (what a deal) the quote was for about $3.00 a qt but after a lot of taxes and misc fees it worked out to $4.00 If this oil is PAO seems like a good deal. I like the HTHS.

"76 High Performance Track Oil" looks similar to discontinued "76 Nascar Synthetic 10W-30" when it was in SH and SJ. Most likely the base stock (except weight) and additive package are also the same as in "76 Synthetic 20W-50" (former 76 Nascar Synthetic) because its formulation has not been changed unlike 10W-30. Unocal specified in its PDS until 09.2002 that it's formulated from PAO and Esters. Smells sweet.

Well, OK, it is not sweet, it's sweety. I would not say its smell differs from that of GC. I know some people here will prefer GC smells to Chanel N5. [Big Grin]

They only say that about Wrangler Jack's 5W40 rattlesnake-based SUV oil...at least I have never heard them say it about any other oil...maybe I don't get out enough. [I dont know]

The tuner market is also a target of ConocoPhillips, which this month launched 76 High Performance motor oil. This synthetic high-performance oil is "formulated for today's higher-revving, hotter-running car, light truck and super-charged engines," according to David Turner, automotive product manager in the lubricants division. Also new is a high-mileage oil under the company's Kendall brand. ExxonMobil, meanwhile, unveiled three new oils tapping into niche trends: high-mileage, racing and truck, and SUV formula oils. Mobil 1 Racing, the official oil used in NASCAR, was expanded this year to the consumer market. Even at $7 to $9 a quart, the company anticipates this high-performance synthetic will command a following among auto racing enthusiasts. Mobil 1 Truck & SUV, a full synthetic designed for hard-working engines, also carries a premium price at $5 a quart.

Where did you get it? I have been able to find Kendall GT-1 synthetic (same stuff) but the cost was $5.00 per quart, a case at a time. Bob W.

Difficult to say what is the situation now, but 76 Pure Synthetic Oil 5W-40 of the first "generations" were PAO based. If I am not mistaken in the end of 90th Unocal launched own PAO facility. During last few years the majority of oil manufacturers changed their 5W-40 formulations, so that PAO base stock was substituted in this or that degree by Gr.III. Who knows whether or not Unocal followed or was pushed to follow this trend ?
