Anything (everything) by Deep Purple, Allman Brothers, Janis Joplin, Grand Funk.
That is my favorite era too.
There were lots of very good one hit wonders, too - Blackfoot, Bloodrock, MC5 - more than I can remember. Like someone else said, the list is almost endless. It was a high energy time.
No doubt. Prog rock was huge then. Yes is an all time favorite. Preferably the Yes with Bill Bruford. Close to the Edge and Fragile would be my two favorite from Yes.
So many good bands....
All excellent songs ... not much of a punk fan, er maybe this one. Tony Iommi's playing was VERY heavy. Amazing considering he lost the tips of ring and middle finger on his right hand at age 17.
SCORPIONS ! LOVEDRIVE , album cover got my attention . Great L.P. as well . Other album covers that swayed me to purchase as a teen were RUSH " 2112 " , THIN LIZZY " Jailbreak " , HEAD " Get Yourself Up " , DOOBIE BROTHERS " What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits " and many others .
