Is it worth it to add a drain plug to my transmission? Currently I just just an oil extractor to suck out as much ATF as possible every year or two- generally its 4-6qts depending on how well i position the tube. I've thought about either adding a drain plug or swapping to the Dorman 6r80 pan but I worry that both of those options will be likely to leak. I also wonder how volunerable that plug is to impacts since its sitting out in the wide open.

If the pan is metal, consider the B&M plug kit #80250 (or equivilant brand).
I've used these several times in 4R75W and other trans pans with great success; never an errant drip after years of service.
