60 Degrees+ 30-40 inches of snow and it's Spring!

Heavy thunderstorms have dumped locally 3+” of rain around Clear Lake and Old Ham overnight with some localized flooding. Otherwise, general showers and thunderstorms are moving into MN and NW Iowa this morning, but a break is expected across the Sioux Falls during the rest of the morning with only spotty activity until late afternoon.



Heavy snow will be developing today in the Black Hills with blizzard conditions likely by this afternoon. Very strong NW winds will create whiteout conditions.



By late this afternoon, thunderstorms with possible severe weather will affect SE KELOLAND. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out as strong low pressure moves in from Nebraska. The best chance of severe weather will be in the Yankton-Vermillion area…extending toward Sioux City.



Meanwhile, blizzard conditions will continue to expand east toward Pierre by tonight. Snowfall totals will continue to pile up overnight in the west…with storm total accumulation of 30-40” in the northern Hills and up to 1 foot in Rapid City. Lesser amounts of 2-4” are expected in Pierre.



Light snow may brush areas east of the James tomorrow, but cooler and blustery weather will be the main story with scattered showers.



Another storm system will affect SE KELOLAND late this week. In fact, indications are that we may have a major winter-like storm to deal with on Saturday. Stay tuned…

I thought it was spring a few days back. It was 43 out Yesterday......

I read a book about a year ago, the Blizzard of 1948? Not sure of the year, short book that had some pictures. That was some serous blizzard.....

I sure hope we don't see anymore snow here in Toronto. The first half of the season was pretty bad, we kept getting hit by a bunch of minor storms (3-4" each) in a row, which ended up making pretty big snow piles everywhere. But we haven't gotten any snow since early February here! And there is nothing in the two week forecast that indicates snow either, although late March/early April snowstorms here usually show up without warning. Once we get past April 15th we're usually safe though, we've never gotten any big storms after that.
