There is no way Whatsapp was worth 18 billion dollars. There are a ton of these apps out there, and with all the power Facebook has there is no reason they couldn't develop their own for a fraction of the price.

Anyone that owns FB has to be crazy if this is the way they are going to invest shareholder funds. I realize a lot of it was a stock swap, so perhaps FB feels their stock is overvalued?

The other part of this that I can't figure out is how Snapchat turned down a 3 billion dollar cash offer from FB last year. Obviously the 23 yo that designed that app has no idea how much 3 billion dollars is.

Personally I like the chat app kik.

These apps are a flash in the pan, I think the snapchat people are insane as well, or just greedy.


IMHO Facebook is a poorly run company that wants to be the next Google or Amazon but just can't figure out how.
