5W50 Mobil 1 in Canada?

Hey guy's. I just got back from one of the
Canadian Tire stores in my city (picked up
few more bottles of GC). I checked out the
new bottles of Mobil 1 and when I looked at
the new 4.4 litre jugs, to my surprise, the
performance (red cap) grade wasn't 15W50.
It is now a 5W50 grade.

I checked
the Mobil 1 US web site and there is no
5W50 grade on the list. The Mobil 1 oils in
Canada are all the Super Syn kind. Has anyone
in the US seen this new grade?

Very interesting! I'll have to see if I can find it in my area too. (not that I'd actually buy it, but finding a new oil is always cool)

this Mobil 5w50. I'm thinking, it may come
from Europe, Asia or Australia. There is no mention of this oil in the US web site.

2K Mobil 1 has 0W40, 5W50 and newest 5W30 in Hong Kong. In Asia I think most Mobil 1 are from Singapore or Philipine, but with European formula. Independent importers here do import European Mobil 1 0W40 and 5W50, label on bottle only say'Made in Europe', no mention on exact country.

I was at a Walmart and i also noticed the 5w50 in the new jugs.

Yes this is an interesting find, but it is not a new oil; its' been available in Europe for years - their so-called Rally Formula. But be warned, it is even more shear prone than Mobil 1 0W40 if you can believe it. Having said that, it is superior to the multitude of Gp III 5w50 oils on the market.

Mobil 1 5W50 is a huge seller in Oz. Mobil 1 15W50 available from Mobil 1 distributors should be be better IMO. But it won't sell as not generally available.
