Correct again, and using a 229.5 oil only matters if you're in warranty. Remember, I am a factory trained dealer tech. I know about MB oil approvals. The only reason I posted the chart was to show MB, as well as some other manufacturers do not restrict owners to a single operating temp oil weight like GM with 30 weight. I'm using, as this thread is about, Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W40 which happens to be 229.5 not that it matters as I'm using it in a Northstar. I have a large stock of it from my previous Mercedes 400E, which has a M119 4 cam V8 very much like the Northstar in many ways.

My point was that the official MB 229.5 spec does not list any other grades apart from 0w-30, 5w-30, 0w-40, and 5w-40.
