Most of you that use GC are using 0W30.
My vehicles all spec. 5W30.
Went to Castrol web site and see Castrol Syntec comes in 5W30 along with other weights too.
Question is are all weights GC ? Or just the 0W30.
I am worried 0W30 too thin for deep south.

The Syntec 0w30 is the only grade that is made in Germany. It's the "GC".

You can safely use 0w30 in place of 5w30.

As far as I know the ONLY grade of Syntec made in Germany is the 0W30; apparently BMW dealers have a Belgian-made Castrol product in a 5W40. I am convinced that unless there is something about Toyota or Ford engines that makes them a peculiar case, you should have no problem running a 0W30 in your cars. Maybe owners of similar engines to yours can expand upon that...but if you can run a 5W30 you should have no problem with 0W30. Just remember, at operating temperatur SLX/GC is as thick, and maybe thicker than the 5W30 you might select. It is only a 0W at sub-operating temps.

With the exception of Castrol's own Group 3 5w30.

Syntec 5w30 is around 10 cSt, while GC 0w30 is around 12 cSt at 100*c. GC is on the high side of a 30 wt, while Syntec 5w30 is on the low side.
