5w20 Honda Canada

This is a VOA on 5w20 Honda Canada oil.I beleive the oil is made by Petro Canada

DAVID: The only unusual finding in this sample of virgin 5w20 oil is the silicon, at 7 ppm. That's a little high for a virgin oil, but it could just as easily be an additive (anti-foam) as a contaminate. No moisture or insolubles were present in the oil, and the viscosity was normal for a 5w20. The TBN of this oil read 9.5, which is standard for a gasoline-use engine oil.

Definitely way different than the US Honda 5w20. It's viscosity is 8.94cst at 100c, so it's a high 20wt, however the US Honda sample was a 30wt (although I still think it must've been some sort of packaging error and 5w30 was put into a 5w20 bottle)

The 7ppm of silicon is not usual, both Schaeffer oil and Redline usually test out to 7-10ppm of silicon on VOAs too. Once you run it for a bit, this silicon depletes but then is replaced by silicon from dirt. So if you start out at 7 you could very well end up with less by the end of your interval, if your air filtration is good.

The viscosity of this oil is a lot better than the Pennzoil 5w20 that I sent away, it came back at 8.12. One thing the Pennzoil has though is lots of moly
