Walmart has a Full Synthetic 5w-30, supertech I beleive. Who makes this, Valvoline/Pennsoil? Is this any good or is the Mobile 1 still better?

I think that it is made by warren, which I think is owned by quakerstate. IMHO, any "true" synthetic is better than the GIII stuff. But for 3 bucks, it might be worth a shot. You may want to consider Schaeffers supreme blend, for about the same money.

I don't think that Warren Oil Co. is owned by Quaker St., which itself is owned by Royal Dutch/Shell.

Warren could certainly blend and package the oil for Wal*Mart.

I guess the question is : does it realy matter. The next batch may be made by someone else

. One thing will always be the same (unless API specs change seriously ). It will always be a Group III and it will never be as good as Mobil 1, Amsoil, Redline, RP or GC.
