Asking for a friend, he just bought a 1989 Ford Escort with the small 62hp 1.3 Pushrod engine, very good condition and low miles, Ford recommends 10W-30 for it.
Here in Spain 10W-30 is almost impossible to find.
Would a modern A3/B4 5W-30 not work ok? in particular i've found this one made by Comma, a small British company, seems to be relatively thickn for a 5W-30 and has 1300ppm of Zddp to boot for the flat tappets.
What do you think?

Most definitely. You could run up to a 50 grade if you wanted but I wouldn't if it isn't burning. Any euro or diesel 30-40 grade is more than good.
