I bought a GMB water pump for my 2004 F150 - the pump that it's replacing has a plate across the back side of the impeller, however this one does not. I looked it up for the older 2v and it doesn't appear to have one so I'm thinking that GMB just merged part numbers and I'm relatively sure that it won't matter, butttttt........

One more bit of data - the pump for the 2004 SVT Lightening doesn't have that plate.

Any thoughts on it?

This is the style that the GMB is

This was the stock style for the 2004

What is the part number you received for your 04? It seems the aftermarket listings can't deal with the 2004 F-150 because of their being 2 completely different trucks made that year.

design of this pump changed multiple times

I received a 125-6050.

And after looking at the file photo, it shows the plate on the back. Looked up a pump (on Rock Auto) for the 1998 5.4 and it's the same 125-6050. I dunno what's going on...

When looking up parts for these trucks on something other than my Ford catalog, I will put it in as a 2005 since the aftermarket catalogs can't figure out that there are 2 different F-150s in 2004.

I wonder if the part had a running change and you got new/old stock?

I do the same identical thing for my sons new model 04. GMTA!

the v8/v10 modular share the same pattern water pump for most of the production run. there’s multiple motorcraft and WERS
part numbers with slight variances

It probably would have worked fine, but I ended up returning it and going with a Motorcraft pump instead. Thought about exchanging for another gmb but figured with my luck, I'd get the same thing again..
