440-T4 missing bolt

1989 Electra Park Avenue with 3.8.

While cleaning it up I noticed this missing bolt hole which seems to allow access to the transmission case.

I'll determine the thread pitch and find something to occupy the hole, but I guess my question is if this does go into the transmission itself, or is actually a blind hole? I stuck a(n aerosol can) straw in there and it doesn't seem to be a blind hole.

That's why they make caulking

It might be drilled through into the bellhousing/converter housing....The size is 6x1.0mm. Been awhile since I've messed with a 440-T4.

36 year old car, that I presume runs fine, without that 1 tapped hole being filled. Yes, this would trigger my own OCD.

If there is no fluid coming out of it you are fine. It appears dry from the picture. Sleep well.

Breather? If so, plug it and look for the dip-stick to slightly rise out of place.

I'm pretty sure you are looking at a screw hole that is empty on the plastic inspection cover. It is an odd shape.
