40 weight oil for the workshop

Sounds very much like you do exactly what I do. Pick a *w40 oil that meets ACEA C3 with a few approvals and with a few minor exeptions just use it in everything.

What sort of quanitity are you intending on purchasing? Might be worth speaking to Opie Oils or Broughton Lubricants about your requirements and see what they offer.

I've also had good experiences with Millers Oils but they're a bt stingey with approvals.
Usually in 208 ltr barrels bud. I've got direct accounts with Mobil, Castrol, Total, Morris, Rock Oil and Motul via Witham Oil and Paints.
We stock LL3 5w-30 - 208ltr
0w-30 acea C2 (for SsangYong, PSA and Ford - 208ltr
5w-40 502.00 505.01 - 208ltr
Genuine VW Eco screenwash - 199ltr
The rest I keep in small pack in Texaco Havoline.

So what? Just leave the ECU in 'flexible/variable interval mode'
and change oil earlier (e.g. annually) regardless. Again, what's
the issue with that? Thousands of VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda owners
are doing it that way for years, myself included.
.
I think on this occasion, VW know best, there must be a reason and it's probably engine protection.

.
I even fully agree that VW knows best, extended interval duration excluded,
but you seem to have a surprisingly hard time understanding what I'm saying.
My suggestion isn't even contradicting to VW's requirements. While you're a
forum member for 12 years with 646 messages you apparently didn't read much
on VW 504 00/507 00 or even VW 511 00 approved oils. The only reason worth
mentioning using VW 502 00 oils is increased sulphur fuel. Which isn't even sold
in the UK for like two decades....
