So if I can refer to the car I made the 'Claim' about

I guess I was lucky in getting the 1.5 Diesel

I assume the 3.8 l/100 km consumption number comes from the EU test cycle. Expect "real world" consumption to be 20-30% higher.

I reported an average of 5.4 liters per 100km (52.3imp mpg) so your 20-30% extra Real World would seem about right.
The vehicle really shined when at a steady speed on the flat using it's 6th gear.
But I seem to be Branded as an Internet Troll making this up

My 1.6 TDCi Ford Focus "EU" consumption is 4.2 l/100 km.
My average number is 5.6 l/100 km, with AC on in summer and using diesel engine heater (Webasto) during winter.
