These motors tend to be a little more sensitive than most to spark plugs for whatever reason, so I figured I'd include a set of plugs with my 30,000 'tuneup'. (Diff/Trans/Oil/Air Filter)

Thought I'd snap some pics in case anyone was interested. Plugs look about the way I'd expect. Will probably wait until 90k to do the next set unless I notice the thing running rough.

I do love the I4 for ease of doing them though. They even thought to give you enough room around the HPFP to get the COP out.

Yea, not sure why this motor is so sensitive to them. Haven't driven mine anywhere since I've done it, so don't know if it made a difference. Cheap enough just to do it and not worry about it.

We have a 2017 Explorer with the 2.3 EcoBoost. I changed the plugs at 60,000 miles just because I didn't want to risk having seized plugs in an aluminum head. We tend to keep our vehicle for 200,000 + miles. The plugs are easy to access in this engine thankfully. I used Motorcraft replacement plugs from RA, about $4.50/ea. The factory plugs at 60,000 miles were still gapped at about .030-.031. #4 plug had oil on the threads but none on firing end, no miss fires either. Carefully gapped the new plugs all to .028 and used anti-seize with reduced torque setting. No change in running, still runs great. It was cheap an easy to do.

in line 4's are EZE for a lot of reasons especially if correctly installed NOT sideways!! joking aside a V-6 mounted sideways can be a real issue to work on.
