I'll be changing out the Pennzoil synthetic 5w20 this weekend (weather permiting) and sending off the sample for comparison with the conventional 5w20 results obtained early last year.

Since I like the way my Chrysler 3.5 HO runs on 5w20 (and the UOA wear numbers were spectacular), I've decided to stick with that grade, with a little twist however: I'm going to run 4 quarts of regular Pennzoil 5w20 and 1 quart of Pennzoil High Mileage 5w30. In addition, I'm going to us LC and try to run this "brew" out to 6000 miles (with Terry Dyson's help).

G-man, I look forward to the UOA results as there aren's many Pennzoil 20wt UOAs of the synthetic variety.

But be very careful, you know Pennzoil puts sludge in your engine, don't you??

Oh yeah, it comes from all that candle wax that's in it!

Will this vary significantly from running PZ 5W-30 SM/GF-4 with LC? Just curious as to why thickening the 5W-20 with HM brew??

A mix of 80% std 5w20 plus 20% HM 5w30 should give me a blend that is still a 5w20, just a little higher vis than the std 5w20. The HM oil will give me a boost in calcium and boron, plus the added benefit of the seal conditioning esters.

I'm planning to do a VOA of this blend to verify viscosity and TBN.
