2AZ-FE head bolt removal socket

Some 2AZ-FE engines will leak coolant externally because the block has a bad casting & the head bolts lift off. The fix is a time-sert on the 3 inner rear headbolt areas. The outer holes have dowel pins & shouldn't be fixed with time-serts. Use new a Toyota headbolts. There's a TSB for this concern. I've repaired a few & it works quite well.

I see even ARP is in on the studs for these engines. Technically the studs are far superior to the TSB fix which are almost always based on cost and ease of completion.
Studs exert no real torsional pressure on the threads like bolts create.

The kit with plate, drill tap and stud kit is a good value, the ARP kit alone is $180. IMHO this would be $400 well invested if the car is a keeper.
Just doing the studs alone will probably work just fine on this engine because the stress on the block is greatly reduced.

Thanks for confirming that.

I am wondering this too.

Same thing. A 12 pt socket could also be called a bi hex socket, same applies to inside bi hex.
