21 escape ready to drive off cliff!

There is a TSB with a certain 22 build range that the transmissions were not correctly assembled, wonder if it applies to service units as well.

My 21 Hybrid is a really nice car, but it doesn't have 130,000 on it.

If it's any consolation, I have a really mean and nasty neighbor (I don't know if she has some sort of mental issues or what, but to give an example, she called the police when I mentioned her mulch has fungus shooting spores over to our cars). She has a brand new Escape and I'm not usually like this, but if it gives her multiple problems I wouldn't shed any tears, maybe stones.
Neighbor's mulch has fungus that shoots spores all over your cars? 🤣

It's a real issue, and a huge pain in the butt. The fungus will embed itself into and damage paint. Artillery fungus, look it up. Seriously.
Yes, we have shared driveways leading to single family homes. The driveways have extensions and ours is separated from hers by a row of trees she planted and mulched. Our cars would be covered by black dots and obvious as they’re white. She said that’s from birds. I said no from your mulch. “That’s it, I’m calling the police.” So yes I hope her new Escape experiences major breakdowns.

I'm sure the cops were thrilled to waste their time with that call. What a special person your neighbor must be!

Two officers showed up, one to interview each of us. Advised us bodycams recording to which I said that’s fine. When I mentioned the mulch and her reaction the officers eyes grew wide. At the end he said don’t engage with her let us handle it. There are times I hear her screaming from inside her house. Anyone else I’d be concerned and check that things are ok. There’s something abnormal about this person.

She accused my wife of backing up and over her lawn.

Wouldn’t you know I get the new 4k front/rear dash cam, I’m backing in, she’s coming head in, and she runs over her own lawn and it’s in 2160p? I got out and told her you ran over your own grass and I’m downloading the video. It’s in 4K. She still denied it. 😂

Time to start exploring outside the transmission to find reasons for failure. I had an early '90's Nissan that blew the tranmission just under 200k miles. On the highway it would buck and lurch and the converter would lock and unlock like it was possessed. Wasnt bad at first, but after a few weeks of this it got worse and worse and finally died. Tore it apart, clutch debris everywhere. Cut open the converter, the clutch was roasted.

Got a reman transmission and a new convertor. Spent all weekend installing it, finally went on a drive. Worked great....for about 20 minutes, then started doing the same thing as the blown transmission. I figured a faulty reman, but then went digging. Put in a replacement trans ECU... no change. This stupid car was about to blow up a newly reman'd trans and was likely headed toward a 3rd until I decided to keep digging. Thats when I found it.

When I had installed the new battery a few weeks before the problems started, I had to push part of the wiring harness off to the side to make way for the battery. Apparently when I did that, one of the harness plugs, that contained the convertor lockup solenoid connection, had jammed between the battery and a bracket on the shock tower and had become partially disconnected. Pushed the two plugs together.... "click". Went for a drive. Perfect. Smooth as silk. Drove it all over that afternoon, no problems at all. I was simultaneously the most happy and most PO'd person on the planet for several hours. Never had another issue and the reman lasted 200,000+ miles when I sold the car with almost 400k miles on it.

MAP sensors and throttle position sensors can also wreak havoc on transmission behavior. Penty of bad remans out there but multiple failures in the same vehicle, its time to start looking at the transmission not as the problem, but as the victim of some problem somewhere else in the car. Just my opinion.

My 6f35 trans in my 2017 Ford Fusion has 178K and have never had any problems with it. Shifts great both up and down. However I use M1 LV HP atf and I do the drain and fill every 30-40K myself. My 2007 Fusion has 327K and the trans shifts great up and down. I do the drain and fills also myself every 30-40K and use M1 Mercon atf. Get a new mechanic.
