Attached is my first UOA for my 3.0 Duramax. I usually change the oil closer to 4.5-5k. Changed this earlier as most of these miles are from short trips during a brutally cold winter. Report shows it was unnecessary.

ESP x2 can now easily be found at my Walmart and Walmart online at typical full synthetic Walmart prices so I’m pleased with that. Every jug I empty has additives sitting at the bottom, shaking the bottle makes zero difference. Clearly not an issue.

On every report I send to Oil Analyzers, they fail to copy the product information correctly and will update my sample after I clarify. I’ll repost with the updated results. I also requested a particle count out of curiosity. Filter is an AC Delco UPF66R.

Let me know what you guys think.

I see oxidation is colored red @ 32. What does that tell us?
When they give me an updated sheet once they know what the oil is it won’t be flagged red. As stated by several others, ester responsible for the oxidation value.
Good first report on your Duramax. Will be curious to see how future UOA look. Like you said, ESP is a very good product off the shelves. Thanks for sharing.
Planning on doing another UOA during the summer with a longer interval.

Thanks all

Out of warranty, ESP 0/5W30.
That’s probably what I’ll do. I actually emailed GM Dexos: they said if Dexos D is unavailable, an ACEA C3 or C5 can be used in the mean time. Couldn’t get them to specify if it would or would not void my warranty (despite my best efforts).

It’s interesting that even with 2.3% fuel in there that the viscosity was 8.1 cst at 100c, given that M1 says that it starts at 7.9
