2022 WRX up close video

Not bad but I'd much rather have this.

Nice car, but, at about fourteen thousand dollars more than a WRX, it's in a different class.

A more appropriate comparison to the Golf R will be the new-gen WRX STi, when it's released.

I'm not a fan of the black plastic wheelwell arches. They work well on the Crosstrek - they make it look rugged and offroad-worthy - but who wants that on a WRX? Sure, I get it - it has "rally car heritage" - but who on this side of the pond actually takes their car on a rally course? This isn't Europe... People here drive SUVs when they go on a dirt road.

You beat me to this point. I'm just not digging that cladding. And especially not on the rear. Maybe it'll grow on me.

$14000 well spent to have a good looking car. It's only $7.67 a day for 5 years. The plastic all over that new WRX is not good looking imo.

I mean, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it.

Personally, I don't share it.

Comparing the WRX ($30,000) to the Golf R ($44,000), you're trying to compare apples to oranges.

WRX to GTI ($28,695) would be the fair comparison.

The GTI is only FWD, a big disadvantage compared to the WRX if you ask me. The Golf R is a lot of money. It will be too close in price to like a Tesla Model 3 Performance when you factor in the fuel savings, probable dealer markup on the Golf R, stronger resale value on a Tesla. We all know the M3P shreds face in acceleration too.

They killed off the Alltrack/4 motion wagons, those were the bang for the buck AWD turbo option.
