Good Afternoon Board,

I've attached some photos of the original oil filter from the factory with 3,000 miles on it before I changed it out.

The can is .033 in thickness.

It's really a very well built filter, just my thoughts.

Tokyo Roki makes the factory filters. They are very nice filters. I prefer to buy the factory Tokyo Roki filters for my WRX, but am experimenting with other brands briefly.

I just picked up a filter cup wrench from Beta tools for the 66.5 mm Tokyo Roki., it seems to be a PITA size to find.

I don’t think you get this filter from the Subaru dealers, only the blue one made by Fram, which some folks don’t like to use. I trust Fram products though.

Unless they got those back in stock recently, you can’t even get those anymore. About six months ago they switched to a non-labelled blue filter which appears to be an AC Delco clone made by Champ.

Although, oddly, the original OE Subaru blue AA15A filter is being sold at WalMart. In a box containing the shrink-wrapped filter as they were always supplied loose, before.

There is even less hard info available for the "temporary replacement" AC Delco clones now being sold at dealer parts counter than was available for the original blue Fram-made AA15A. Not even sure what the much-debated bypass pressure is set at for the new replacement.

Looks good and what went back in and on? Thank You

My wife’s Forester is due for an oil change, first one I’ll have done since the first was covered by Subaru. Up here in Canada it doesn’t look like you can get the 15A filters at Walmart. I’ll probably just use a Napa Gold 57055 because it’s easy to source. I just wish it had a P type gasket. The SOA filters from the dealer I’m pretty darn sure are just Delco PF2057’s without the sticker. They also have a flat gasket.

I agree with this, when I changed the oil tag 3,000 miles, the dealer had a blue filter, no markings or labeling at all; I passed on it, wasn’t going to pay $10-$12 for it; I put on the Pure1 Oil Filter instead

So again I will ask: did you change the oil or not?
