Everyone wants one because they are a status symbol right now for multiple reasons.

I don't mean literally everyone. Just everyone that gravitates towards this type of status.

There is some truth in your status symbol point, just like Vettes, Beemers, MBZ, you name it. Heck, what about $70K pickups?
No one needs one; to an extent, they are bling.
If I could have only 1 car, it would not be a Tesla or any EV.

So what would it be? Camry LE? 😄

1997 Camry CE. My dream car!
Actually, I can cheat because a truck is not a car; it is a tool. "He who dies with the most tools wins."
And older Camrys are pretty darn good cars, right? They run and run and don't ask for much. 5w30 ST syn oil and Maxlife ATF. Yup.

But you know what? A Tesla just might be the one... Who the heck knows?

Wow I figured you were just being picky. So is a round wheel available for people that want to actually turn in quick repetitive sequence?
I think that steering wheel is just for show. I doubt it will make it to production.
Those steering wheels are only good for dragsters, right?

..or auto shows, usually in a " car of the future" .
Ill stick with something rounder.

Even so, it reminded me of Knight Rider. If a new car reminds me of an 80's car, well, that's not good.

I don't see that steering wheel design being too far fetched for production. Gives an unobstructed view of the dashboard. Nobody uses the "10 and 2 o'clock" hands on the steering wheel anyway.

That's true...
The thing is, these cars are quick. They handle flat with the ultra low center of gravity.
Pulling outta a turn and giving it a little pedal is a blast!
I am not sure if this is a good fit for such a car... Maybe I'm wrong.

Plus Elon is whack. Who knows what he is gonna do?

In 1900 why did they start carving wooden steering wheels in a circle instead of a square? It was smoother than having the corners hit your hands? Usually we let the wheel spin through our hands after a corner, don’t we? Nice and smoothly. Is this car 1/8 turn lock to lock or something?

I tell people these cars pull like big blocks, but very few have ever felt that kind of acceleration so even that description falls short.

A model 3 performance's acceleration is just a tick slower than an 80's 1100 CC super bike. Which is mind blowing the first time you feel it.

Enough to make grown men laugh and women giggle with delight.

Right now thanks to superchargers I can duplicate my standard 1000 mile drive in equal time with a 3/S.

the Audi/ Taycan is going to have a hard time matching the route time.
