Getting phenomenal MPG out of this hybrid F150.

If I get into boost and drive it moderately. It acts like a usual 3.5 - plenty of power and about 17-19 MPG. Power for towing is awesome and all around you wouldn’t even know it’s a hybrid.

Keep your foot out of it and drive easy - and you’ll return MPG like below. The dash MPG in these trucks is scary accurate.

Never thought I’d see a full size truck get the MPG of a mid-size car.

Just curious if you've done the math on how long to get payback on the add'l cost of the hybrid. Seems like they'd make more sense on something that uses more gas and is driven more miles.

Is that 17-19 MPG while towing or while not towing?

On fuelly of 77 hybrid f150s the average is 19.05 mpg and the highest tank ever logged was 26.3 so you are way way above average with yours.

Some times it would seem the cost of the MPG gains may be worth what ever it is when fuel availibility may be scarce and the range between fillups is considered.

Yes I have. The dash MPG is scary accurate.
Then you had better share your driving habits with the world cause that is unbelievable mpg. You have two readings above that are well higher than the best tank ever recorded on fuelly for your vehicle.

When I lived in the mountains of western Canada I could reset the mpg readout on the dash of my old avalanche and drive East for 2 hours to the city. It would read over 25mpg on that trip. I could then take a picture and claim avalanches get 25 mpg on an almost 200km drive even though my actual calculated mpg for the life of the vehicle was around 17. This was because it was straight downhill with the wind at my back going East. On the return drive West the dash would show less than 10mpg.

The fast lane truck guys found some disparity in accuracy, but I recall it being pretty good.

Is there any way to see what the average speed of that trip was?

according to the EPA, the hybrid will save you $500 per year, so about 6 years to breakeven.
