The Delco filter is a well constructed filter and had no visual defects when the canister was cut after 8,400 miles of use.
There are still visible flakes of metal which appear to be mostly steel and a few visible yellow metal flakes. I would like to know where those yellow flakes are coming from. There is considerably less metal now than there was in the factory filter, which is normal. As I've said many times, some metal in the filter is normal. Every filter I've ever cut has visible metal flakes, the only question when I cut a filter is how many flakes will I find.
