Gentex has already had them out for the past 10 years. Honda started using their embedded LCD mirrors on the Odyssey if you wanted a backup camera but no navigation, Toyota used them on the Tacoma and Tundra. This one is a newer version with a wide-screen LCD but it lacks the electrochromic auto-dimming feature, hence the flip-down for the night like an regular mirror.

I like the camera as part of the mirror, as others have pointed out, it is a far more natural location than a dash display. In that respect, having the mirror be a little larger would be helpful. I'm curious if "fisheye" distortion is a problem and how easy it is to judge distances with it?

As for cost, you know darned good and well that it's expensive tech and drives up the cost of both the vehicle and whatever part it is integrated into, such as the F150's incorporating it into the tail light, making a $60 part cost 10X that should either the camera fail or the taillight get damaged.
