2019 Ford Ranger 80.8k mi; HPL PCMO 5W30, 9.4k mi used oil analysis

Ran this oil from October 29 to March 18. Truck had 80,873 starting this run. Used Motocraft filter.

Great sample. Virgin oxidation sits around 33.5. Over your 9K+ miles it has only had an increase of 15+ with good BN left. This is a great 10K oil for your Ranger.

I am seeing a Base Number of 8.09, This is TBN? Seems like this oil is either good for 15,000 miles or maybe 16,000 miles?

The ASTM D2896 test method overestimates acid neutralization power, so the D4739 test method must be used.

Not with that oxidation. An increase of 17 from virgin would be condemnation level.

That Al value, which would be bearing wear, seems pretty high…Si is also elevated…possibly some grit getting in and causing wear?

You are correct. My air filter wasn't seated properly. Fixed when oil was changed.

I think HPL has higher aluminum levels at baseline.
