I think the new front and rear exterior styling is pretty sharp on these. I have never really thought they looked that appealing before. Anyone driven one yet?

It all depends on your taste. Personally I don't care for it. The front end looks too tacked on and more like an after thought.

I think the best looking sedan is the Mazda 3 and 6. I was thinking about buying one but VW sold me a Jetta for 12800. Can't beat that for a new car.

I do like the new VW as well. I sat in a new Golf SportWagen Alltrack the other day and was impressed by the interior and comfort of the seats. Now that the 2018s will have the 6 year warranty, I may put them on my short list for a new car. How did you get a new Jetta for that price anyway?

Someday I'd like to have one sedan and one pickup.

Sorry typed that wrong. $13800 VW had 4500 in incentives then $1000 back if you financed for 6 years. Plus haggling the dealership then. That price is before taxes. OTD was 15200.

I agree OP, the '18 Sonata is very Sharp from all angles and drives solidly to boot. If i didn't get such a great deal on the '17, i wouldn't have thought twice. I also considered the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion.

If you like the Sonata, you should also take a good look at and drive the Kia Optima. I think you'd really like it.

I have two Sonatas. Purchased my 2015 a while back and liked it so much, purchased my 2018 in mid August. BTW, the 2018's with the 2.0T have the 8 Speed Transmission. The 2.4 sticks with the 6 Speed. No problems with either car. Great cars.

Clearly its based on opinion and some have great experiences. I had a Sonata as a rental and didnt find it all that great. Engine compartment was very busy and besides great gas mileage on the 2.4, it was ok in most ways but i prefer the camry, impala and mazda 6 in terms of driveability and refinement.

Same experience here. Engine sounded very unrefined and the trans programming was way too slow/sloppy for me, but we all have different reference points. Plus, it could just have been a beat up rental.

I have never based my opinions on a rental, as all have felt beat up. One exception being a Chrysler 300 that only had 1200 miles. But this is a very subjective thing and i (see signature) am rather biased. wink

The new Stinger looks pretty nice as well...

Gorgeous in red! Almost reminds me of an RX7 twin turbo from the back.

I MOST certainly agree! I'm partial to red as that is the color of current thrill ride.

Yeah, I don't understand the recent BITOG penchant for rental car reviews. Most of the rentals I've had have jumped curbs, were a quart low or had something loose and rattling that apparently the maintenance folks couldn't or wouldn't identify. I drove a one way rental cross country and I'll never forget that the seat foam was so compressed ( or non-existent ) that I had to put a phone book in ( not on ) the seat to bring it to normal height. Rental reviews don't mean much to me other than subjective opinion as you mention.
