Really happy with this first oil report and that no "magic elixir" was added at the last oil change at the dealer. All with dealer oil 68283520AA -Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20.
It consumed a quart in the first 2,500 miles, then a quart in 3,040 miles and finally ¾ of a quart in 4,435 miles. Below is the oil usage I observed in 16 months and 9,975 mile

Oil Level --------- Miles Driven
3/4 mark ------ @ 800 miles (on OD)
½ mark -------- @ 1,700 miles (on OD)
Low mark ----- @ 2,500 miles (oil/filter change)
----------------- 2,500 miles driven on oil

5/8 mark ----- @ 1,000 miles (3,500 on OD)
¼ mark ------- @ 1,000 miles (4,540 on OD)
Low mark ----- @ 900 miles (5,540 on OD oil/filer change)
-------------------- 3,040 miles driven on oil

7/8 mark ------ @ 1,055 miles (6,595 on OD)
¾ mark -------- @ 1,250 miles (7,845 on OD)
5/8 mark ------- @ 1,180 miles (9,025 on OD)
¼ mark --------- @ 950 miles (9,975 on OD sample at Blackstone added 1 ½ qts make up oil, did not change oil/filter)
------------------- 4,435 miles driven on oil

Nice, thank you for sharing.

I have the non Tigershark version of that Michigan built engine in my Patriot. I'm at 85,000 trouble free miles now and it uses no more than 8 oz. of oil during a 7K OCI. Yours will get better, but it seems that a bit more oil use is common with the newer engine version. They are very reliable engines, but not quite as "refined" as other brands.

Enjoy your Compass.

so true, thank goodness for Compass/Cherokee/Dart websites and for people posting their experiences. Without them, I would have never guessed in my 30+ years of driving/owning vehicles to monitor the oil level this closely on a new purchase. Glad I did my research before buying. Yes, the Compass has impressed us from interior cargo capacity to 32+ hwy mpg's and how smooth/comfortable and quiet a ride it is considering it's only a sport model. Just got finished doing the "headrest" mod, world of difference on our necks/upper back.
