2017 Buick Lacrosse 70.8k mi; Mobil 1 5W-30 7k mi

This is on my wife's car. We've owned it since about 7K miles. I typically use Kirkland or Mobil 1 5W-30 and have been following the oil life monitor (change when <10%). I know an earlier gen of this motor had issues with the timing chains, and the reduced the interval from 10,000 to about 7,500 miles. During the time of this report I used a Fram XG filter. She's fairly easy on the car, mostly highway miles. I'm going to reduce the interval down to 6,500 for a couple of runs and see if that changes anything. Any insight into the copper is appreciated.

Even though the 2014+ lfx has revised parts and is programmed with shorter intervals it's still known for timing chain stretch like the llt just not as badly. I'd rather be safe than sorry and use a euro 30/40 oil with a 20um @ 99% filter and not go over 5k to help prolong them unless you plan on letting go of it soon.

It looks like it was the LGX. I haven’t heard of any timing chain issues with the LGX. GM changed the timing chain setup for the LGX over the LFX.

I'd not be concerned about it yet until you can test further. The other metals are in good shape. Viscosity is low.

does look like it sheared down a bit, try a 5-6 oci and see if that helps, or use another name brand of oil of your choice

At this stage I don't think it's an issue. Universal averages are 0.68ppm per 1000 miles while your results are 1.14ppm per 1000 miles. If you round both of those to the nearest whole numbers, they are the same.

On a positive note, iron is a full ppm under universal averages.
