~5600 mile run on a 2016 corolla with the 1.8L engine.
Oil filter was a $2 purolator tech TL14476. Oil is the generic 0w-20 full synthetic from walmart. Surprised more about the oil filter lol.

I sacrificed my partner's car with the $2 filter and it held up okay. She does a lot of sitting in traffic and commuting. Also does short trips around town. Gasoline is always top tier fuel as well. Will be going 10k oci from now on.

What's the starting TBN on the supertech? I wouldn't double the interval with 2.8 tbn remaining, I'd be hesitant to increase it at alln especially through winter (sitting in traffic doesn't heat up oil much, so acid formation from fuel and water prsence is a concern). I assume the 5.6k was essentially over summer? then again, californian winters....

Did you add top off oil? I know the report says no, but just double checking as it matters a lot.

I agree with @Jetronic. Doubling the interval from 5k to 10k when your TBN is down to 2.8 at 5k is probably too much. I'd actually agree with Blackstone's comments and start with 7500 miles, followed by another UOA, then if you still have room to extend, go from there.

If you use a lab that includes oxidation values, then you will have another data point to judge how far you can take the OCI. Blackstone will do oxidation, but it's a $20 add-on charge, whereas Polaris, Oil Analyzers, and Speediagnostix include it in their standard analysis. Plus, Polaris/Oil Analyzers also include TBN for no extra charge AND they use gas chromatography for accurate fuel%, rather than Blackstone's lowball guess from flashpoint method.

This is America and you should do what you want with your things. However, if it were my car and I wanted to squeeze every bit of life out of it, I would stick with 5k intervals due to the short tripping and consistent long idling alone. Consider that along with the low cost of only 4.4 quarts of SuperTech and that filter, I would not do anything different from what you're doing. Those driving conditions are considered severe duty by most manufactures. JM2C

OP if you wish to double your interval to spend less time under the car you should run castrol edge EP in 0w-20 or 5w-30 if you want but isn't necessary and a better filter like a fram ultra or endurance. What is your trans maintenance like and do you have the 4spd or the cvt?

Not relevant it’s always summer here in California 🌞

I’ll probably do a 10k interval but I’m going to start using speeddiagnostix since they do oxidation value
