This is a run of Valvoline Restore and Protect. I have used AMSOIL Signature Series 0w-20 since new but thought I would try Valvoline Restore and Protect to see what it would look like. Most oil changes varied in the early life of the Suburban, some taking it to 15k change intervals for 2 or three and then backed it back down to 10k and then down to 5k since fuel dilution has been high in the past due to our moving to a new city and short drives like under 10 miles each way with start and stopping a lot. This sample was taken right as we got back from a 6 hour drive back from the Western NC Mountains. EaO17 oil filter and mostly BP fuel but on trips E85 100%.

I don't use either oil, but isn't that a step backward, from a quality perspective, to go from AMSOIL Signature Series to Valvoline?

If you didn't have any problems with the Amsoil, what made you change oil brands at all?

I don't think this report is a true picture, since, I'm guessing, there was likely a residual amount of Amsoil left in the motor that might be slightly altering these results. From what I understand, it's going to take one more oil change with the Valvoline to give you an accurate picture of what's really going on within your engine.

Just my .02.

What the heck was Sample #1, because that sure wasn't AMSOIL SS. 53ppm Zinc, no detergent... 🤷‍♂️
