Second oil changes in my ownership Mobil 1 FS X2 5W50, first was Mobil 1 FS 0w40 (I think). All spirited background miles, and given the flash point from the last oil change, I let the car idle less, before driving away. Of course I let it fully warm up before any higher rpms.

Interesting to see that anti wear additives are all well below nominal value of this oil in a VOA state. One of the main reasons I decided to swap to a Mobil 1 oil with higher nominal additives (Mobil 1 5W50 Supercar). This engine is hard on oils with it's miles of timing chains and high rp nature (8650 RPM redline).

I also cut the filter, and filter the oil with a magnet, nothing to see. To their comment on high wear for miles, I wonder if the PPM would of maintained steady given the oil keeps getting filtered, and the oil filter looked new inside.

Also ran a full bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it.

Why do you idle the car at all before moving? Turn it on, put on the seat belt, turn the radio, and slowly move. Once pressure is established, you are wasting fuel and delaying reaching operating temperature.

More additives is NOT better. A $30 UOA can't tell you the exact type of additives and there are additives which a UOA won't pick up.

Everything looks fine as it should.

I used to, and due to the higher fuel dilution, I stopped. Now I do exactly as you say. Seat belt. radio, and underway. Once it's up to full operating temp (~180F)+ on the oil good to go. Oil adage of idling for warm up dillutes the fuel and washed oil off the cylinder walls.

Mobil 1 Supercar 5w50 has higher nominal levels of ZDDP, Moly, Boron, and less detergerents. Directionaly it should be a better oil for engine protection on paper. It was also developed for the new Corvette Z06 purposely protect the cams and finger follower DLC coating, and I have seen wear analysis results of Supercar 5w50, vs. FS X2 in lab tests, showing significant lower wear...

Track oils are not good for regular driving. It is better to have street oil for occasional track day than track oil. Street oils like M1 0W40 are very tough and Motul actually recommends street oil for any situation including occasional track. Low detergency oils, racing oils should be used only when car sees a lot of track. Your spirited driving falls under regular driving.
If you are concerned about all this, go HPL 5W40 BAS! It is track oil, but fully streetable.

The Mobil 1 5W50 Supercar is a street oil, it's GM Dexos R certified. It's derived from Mobil 1 ESP and very similiar to Mobil 1 ESP X3 (Porsche certified). It has more anti wear and less detergents than the rest of the mobil 1 oils, specifically to help valvetrain wear with DLC components on the Corvette z06, which also the GT3RS is challenged with. While not Porsched certified, directionaly better on paper, a street oil, relatively cheap and easy to get ahold of, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I know. My point was you chasing oils like that.
However, take into consideration that 5W50 in this case sheared more and didn’t provide any better results than 0W40.

The 5W50 sheared more, but it's viscocity and high temp shear strength are still higher than the 0w40. It's hard to know what's better or not in terms of actual wear results from a oil analysis, as we all know. So the best thing I could do is get ahold of some actual engine wear information.

Since our last discussion I have had some discussions with engineers who developed the Supercar 5w50 for the Corvette Z06 since even in public media they were noting DLC wear, on engine wear, specifically valvetrain wear. Feedback was high HTHS, high anti wear additives, and low detergents showed better actual engine tear down valvetrain results which drove the developement of the Supercar5w50, even compared to Mobil 1 FS X2 5w50, ESP X3, Mobil ESP, all their standard offers.

And now the Mobil 1 Supercar 5w50 is easy to find, and under $10/quart so it went in, and that's probably going to be it on the oil chasing.
