This is my mother-in-law’s Mazda 6 she bought new. Car has 116k miles, been doing 10k mile OCIs on Amsoil SS 0W20 for the last 30k. Filter was an STP S7317XL, FE6607 went back on. Took a sample when I changed it. She drives about 40 min each way to work, mostly hwy and country roads. Looks good to me. Lab is our local CAT dealer.

This is excellent. Low wear rate, no sign of fuel dilution. Seems to be working!

I might try a 30 weight just to see if the wear metal got even lower for curiosity’s sake, but it’s not necessary.

Excellent, Your MIL's Mazda is is showing great oil sample results. I can see why 10k oil change is the plan. Was the STP not cost effective vs the Endurance?

Depending on the starting oxidation of this oil, at 10k it was just getting started. I ran PUP to 17.1k in the same engine; I’d personally expect Amsoil to be able to trounce that. Nice run anyways, thanks for the UOA!

Question on the 6607 filter- why not the FE7317?

Virgin oxidation ranges from 50-63 from the last few UOA/VOA. Most of the SS seems to be around 60 for virgin oxidation.

The STP was just what I had on the shelf honestly. I will cut it open this weekend hopefully and post it. I was trying to get an FE7317 but my Walmart was out.

They were out when I went to buy the filter, otherwise it would’ve been that.

As I said, at 10k the Amsoil was just starting to stretch its legs. Personally I’d go at least 15k next time and do an in-service sample…. OP may be able to go 20k with no worries.

If OP is concerned about filtration, they could always do a filter swap & top-up at 10k, the 8oz or so in the filter will not skew the UOA at 15k much at all with numbers this good at 10k.
