2016 F150 How to remove brake rotor?

Yes, the sprocket thingy does rotate up and down easily. If I go down with it, it tightens it up so I know I’m going the right way. I go all the way until it stops. I tried forcing more but nothing. I’ve tried shaking the rotor around while trying to loosen it more. It definitely seems maxed out to me

Listen, if it's truly the shoes and not rust at the flange, you're just gonna have to get medieval and pry/force. Depending upon method you need to be prepared to buy a rotor and parking brake hardware.

Plenty of shops in the rust belt just quote everything from the get-go, assuming it will be a destructive process.

Don't mistake c-clip play for the rotor being free from the shaft.

Also I dont know if the hold down nail heads are accessible from the backside? You can grind 'em off if so, freeing the shoes.

The rotor is just stuck on because the shoes in the parking brake are grabbing the rotor inside.
You will have to force it off; keep pulling and tugging on the rotor - side to side.
I understand that you have loosened the adjuster, but that does not mean the shoes have collapsed inside; sometimes the rust inside overcomes the springs and the shoes won't retract well enough. I also understand that you don't want to break anything in the brake assy; I get that. But it's unlikely that you'll do any real damage; you just have to keep trying.

You just gotta force it.
99% sure this the problem

If the brakes are loosened all the way, the rotor should spin

If the brakes are tightened, it will turn a smidge but not spin.

There can sometimes be a ridge that the shoes get hung on, but that’s more with drums than drum parking brakes.

Need to break any rust at the hub with whatever banging.

Then spin the rotor free if the brakes are dragging on in as it pulls off??

Success! Used a bigger hammer and it came out along with one of the brake shoes.

It sure does definitely wont be using my emergency brake right now until I fix it

I had some brake issues with my previous 5 horse trailer. Erratic braking, weak at times, etc. I think 3 of the 4 drums had shoes that delaminated. Anyways, not quite the same issues but I bet the lining was already lifting and catching.

Did my dad's earlier this year the linings on the parking brake shoes fell off on both sides when beating the rotors off

The shoes didn't get replaced because the parking brake cables are known to get seized and not work anyways. Its because of this lovely state.

Did you do just rear brakes or front brakes as well?

I only ask because the front brakes have inboard and outboard pads and if they are flipped around one pad wears really fast and at an angle
