Throw in a can of Lubrimoly MOS2 if you want higher moly like those two oils (though you prabably need two to match Mazda oil). Even factoring in a 300ml can (first time, then 1/2 can each OCI after that) it will still be cheaper than Mazda or Toyota 0w-20.

If you can get afe 0w-20 at Costco (I've only ever seen 30wt oils iirc), with rebate, I'd go for it.

I'll have to go to Costco tomorrow and look!!

We've seen some horrendous UOA on prius IIRC.
BEWARE.
Appears the High TBN of a EP might be worthwhile.
Now does the industry have a Nnon-sulphur Moly AW compound that wont gen acids with these cold running engines?

Can you point us in the direction of a "horrendous" Prius UOA? Very inflammatory word to use without providing something more substantial. Everything I've seen shows the Prius to be very low wearing.

If the Toyota 0W20 can be had by you for less than Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20, go for it. Otherwise save your money and use the AFE.

Keep in mind TGMO is a synthetic blend. Mobil 1 is a full synthetic. So I'd vote for Mobil 1.

TGMO 0W-20 SN is a full synthetic.

Yup. Entirely group III based. So synthetic unless you are in Germany

Oops. Was thinking of Honda, where HGMO is typically a blend.

I've used several 0W-20s in my Prius (TGMO, Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy and Pennzoil Platinum) and never noticed any difference. The Prius engine seems pretty easy on oil (the OCI is 1 year/10,000k if I remember right). Go with the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy that's on sale and sleep well.

I'm using Mobil 1 Extended Performance because I believe it's the best 0w-20 oil available. I've driven about 10k miles with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance and it works well.

Jay from FRAM tells me they are working on an ULTRA filter for this engine, but I haven't seen it in stores yet.

I also suggest you get one of these to remove the cartridge filter. They make two different sizes and you will need the smaller one for the Prius.

I appreciate everyone's replies. I'll kick it all around and decide on what I want to do. I'm thinking I'm leaving towards the AFE overall. Cheers everyone!

Good recommendation for the oil wrench. When I did my 1k oil change about a month ago, I stopped by my local Napa and got a really good one that was also on sale. Worked like a champ. And I certainly hope they come out with an Ultra cartridge filter!!! I'd be all over it as I use one religiously at this point on my wife's V6 Fusion.
