I help a widowed friend with her gorgeous 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Ecodiesel.
She called and told me the starter does not disengage after the engine starts for 10 seconds or so.

Dare I ask where the starter is located?
Any guidance on how to diagnose is appreciated.

I'd check the relay first. Have someone turn the key and while it is running-on, either bang on the relay or pull it out of its socket. If that makes it stop cranking instantly, it's probably the relay.

Also there are usually several relays of the same type on a vehicle, so you could swap the starter relay with one from a non-critical function to test.

The GC goes into Chrysler tomorrow. Debbie has an extended warranty.
I think it's time to dump this turd. Lotsa problems. Resale on these things sucks.

On the EcoDiesel ones? Yep. On HEMI and Pentastar ones, the resale is pretty good. The EcoDiesel in the WK2 was not a trouble-free experience from what I recall, which may have been the reason they stopped making it.
