2014 hyundai santa fe

Neighbour has a new santa fe, 2.4 on cold start its very quiet when warm the bloody thing clatters like a diesel. If it was mine i would not be very pleased, i can here it from across the road when he pulls it in the driveway. And this is over 200 feet away. Is this a common issue with these engines.
It is dealer maintained, so i don't think its a filter issue.

I believe you're hearing the injectors. New DI engines are a little more noisy.

Some love the engine sound, some hate it.

Our 2.0T Santa Fe Sport is very quiet.
Our 2.4 Sonata sounds like a muffled diesel on start-up but goes away slightly after warm. It did bother me for about a month when brand new, but not anymore since that baby diesel engine note has definitely grown on me.
