Has there been a consensus as to what ATF meets or exceeds the Hyundai spec atf?

Whelp.. I know back 4-5yrs ago, I used Valvoline Maxlife ATF in my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe's F4A51 AT. It listed "OK for use" for the Hyundai ATF spec at the time.

As far as i know the newer six speed hyundai / Kia spec is SP-IV SPH-IV. There are three that i know of that have that spec. Valvoline Maxlife ATF, Havoline full synthetic DEX6 found on amazon for about 60 dollars a case. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M1Y3KZA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also Mag 1 Full Synthetic Multi Vehicle Low Viscosity ATF also meets the SP-IV spec as well.

I have used the Havoline in my 12 optima and the maxlife in my wifes 13 optima. Both appear to be working fine but i dont have all that many miles on after the change.

On an Elantra it's probably SPH-IV/SP-IV-M/SP-IV/Kia Type 4. Yes, those are the various names for the same fluid.

Kia fluid is a little cheaper (p/n UM090-CH042), but is still over $9 a quart list price. Hyundai fluid (p/n 00232-19045 ---> 00232-19057) is $12 something.

Interestingly, Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc now claims to be "suitable in" these applications. Valvoline Import Multi Vehicle does NOT...it only goes up to SP-III.

I see that this list never shows Mazda "MV" ATF!
But when I dig a bit deeper, I can find the Mazda "MV" in Valvoline's website!

SP-IV for Hyundai.

I've researched this quite a bit and the conclusion I've come to from my research and consulting with Hyundai owners on the Hyundai forums is that the transmissions that require SP-IV aren't picky.

If I had to change my own fluid out (which is an SP-IV application), I'd probably go with either Maxlife or Havoline Dex VI.
