Entering expressway and engine rpm's went up considerably and engine quit. No loud noise or warning. Had it towed to my mechanic, they will look at it neat week. 82,000 miles and has been reliable up till now. We are giving it to our granddaughter next week if it is deemed reliable. Any ideas on what happened?

Does the engine still spin over? Hopefully it just needs a fuel pump.
There was nothing when I tried to start it. All the lights on dashboard came on, but nothing else. I will post next week when mechanic figures it out. I hope it can be fixed so we can give it to our granddaughter down in Tuscan.

Fuel pump, or fuel filter clogged more than likely. Rarely but I did have the wiring harness on the back of my engine wear through and short out the fuel pump.

The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the car for codes.

Hope you had the KSDS update installed before (possible) engine failure

Get your maintenance records in order
KSDS update performed July 10,2023. Maintenance records are in order. Will see what my mechanic says next week. Thanks for reminding me about that recall. Never had anything like this happen before.

Wow, Sorry to hear about your situation. This is close to home because my mom had a 13 Kia Sportage LX with the 2.7 V6 and she had a major issue with the engine, Long story short she traded the Sportage in for different vehicle.

My instinct tells me is engine is toast... Guess we will see if its calibrated correctly 😂

Sounds like another engine failure.
You should have-had that vehicle towed to a Kia dealership. They can diagnosis quicker and more accurately than your mechanic. They've seen a ton of these and similar failures already.

Then (if you wish) have it towed to your mechanic for repairs / block replacement.

Sportage was towed to the Kia dealer today, 11/25/24. My mechanic said engine froze. Will be waiting for results from Kia.
