I'd say I would categorize myself as an agressive driver, this is mostly highway, and more than a few dozen WOT with a dyno session in here.

I'm not worried though, she seems to make power just fine;

I used the EP just because it was on sale, she's on a diet of regular M1 from now on, since the OLM is set for synthetic blend, I'm sure I'll be able to run M1 to 0%.

42% was what the OLM said. Next OCI will be down to ~ 5K as well per their suggestion.

I'll probably go down to 10-20% after that, and if those results are good, down to 0%.

remember. They're using Dexos 1 OTS stuff in these things now. M1 and M1 EP are far better oils.

Theory and reality are often very different things. Your plan to not jump right to the max is a good one.

Given the TBN at 42%, I don't think EP would have made it to 0% let alone the standard M1 or Dexos.

It would appear this oil is not suited to this engine and spirited driving beyond a 5,000 OCI.

Yes. My thoughts exactly.
Like I mentioned, disappointing, but not worried. We all want those numbers to be as close to 0 as possible, but Small Blocks wear for tens of thousands of miles, and if you look @ the numbers compared to the break-in OCI, there *is* less wear/mi going on here.

Also sort of stuck with M1 for warranty purposes anyway.

Tbn retention is not linear. The new Mobil 1 will stay at 2 for a long time.

New LSA needs 10k miles before you can tell much.

GM's OLM is golden, after 10k change by it and enjoy nearly forever engine life!

Honestly, engine just breaking in.

See how it looks when 20,000 miles are on the clock (a few oil changes from now). More than likely, it will look great if you keep servicing it.

Thanks for the posts,

also trying to monitor silicon because of the airaid I have on the car. It's a synthamax filter, I'm hoping silicon will drop off a cliff next OCI.

I just want to throw this out there, you may know anyway. I notice some people only wait until the cars coolant temp gauge is where it should be before they don't mind running it hard. But these LS engines warm up fast despite the oil temp not being in a good range for abuse. On my CTS-V I can be showing acceptable coolant temps but my oil is still 70 degrees. I wait until the oil temp gets to about 150 before I start to give it [censored]. Just a suggestion to keep wear metals down.

Yeah, it's amazing how long engines show break in wear, and this oil was in there from the time the engine had only 1,470 miles! This is a bit like a second factory fill the engine is so fresh.

The next OCI will show better numbers, but it will still be slightly elevated. Once you get near 20k, you should see the low numbers.

You're using a good oil and doing reasonable OCI. You shouldn't have a problem. Enjoy the *VERY* exciting car!
