I am looking to do a fluid exchange on the truck in the post title. I called an Amsoil dealer and they wanted over $13.00 a quart for their transmission fluid for my truck. I have read many good things about Valvoline being a true synthetic as well-and that can be purchased from Amazon at literally half the price.

The fluid in the transmission has probably seen a good 15,000 miles towing a 5,500 pound travel trailer. The truck currently has 50,000 miles on it.

I would appreciate thoughts on the Valvoline Dex 6 product or any other suggestions.

Thanks!

All DexronVI is the same if it's truly a licensed DexronVI, get Supertech from Walmart for $4.25 a quart it's the same as valvoline they have a stringent specification to follow, just make sure it's on the approved list.

If you have a Meijer or Walmart you can get the Maxlife ATF for around the same or cheaper and I consider it superior to DexronVI.

I wouldn't worry about the full synthetic label of some Dex 6 fluids. You can sometimes get a sweet deal on amazon cheaper than Walmart.

All DexronVI is NOT the same. All with a license meet the minimum GM requirements. Some are blends. Others are synthetic.

The term "true synthetic" is meaningless. If you want to use Valvoline, you can either use their licensed DexronVI, or their unlicensed Maxlife.

Castrol offers a DexronVI in a blend and in a full synth.

I'd take the Amsoil/Redline/Neo/Torco version over any of the others.

PAO synth Dexron(VI)HP at the dealer.

This is not true, what I said I stand behind. There are very few suppliers of base oils for meeting DexronVI license, the difference you see is the marketing whether they want to call it a synthetic or synthetic blend, they all are primarily group 3 base oils
