Make up oil 1.3 quarts. IOLM
It was a miserable February and the truck saw more idle time than it would get in a normal year. I am still happy with the IOLM, Kendall GT-1 semi-synthetic oil, and Motorcraft filters.

I love this truck: at 78000 miles I have put on 1 set of tires, 1 set of front brake pads and rotors, a set of wiper blades and a tail light bulb since it was new.

Fe jumped 3x higher than your last OCI, probably due to the cold weather startups you mention. Would be interested to see if stepping up to a 5w30 reduced your oil consumption. Good report overall.

Outstanding! You are piling the miles on - which helps

You're very consistent with your oil change intervals. I'd say you have your maintenance regimen dialed in. Just keep doing it and the truck will run a long time.

In 10000 miles on a v-8 using a 20 grade.
You can't be serious.
If anything this is ideal. It's enough oil to help tbn if you go a few thousand miles longer.
And the engine holds 8 quarts iirc,so a quart under could have just been underfilled when originally filled.
Either way 1.3 quarts is nothing considering grade and miles.

I do service on 3 different 5.0 8-9k intervals and never burn anything close to 1.3 quarts usually not even enough to tell a difference on the stick

It isn't uncommon for coyotes to use a little oil. I know quite a few guys with Mustang GT's and they all use a quart or so between changes. It is also well documented on the web that this engine does use a bit of oil. It's the nature of the beast, and it isn't a sign of a weak or worn engine.

this small amount of consumption is nothing out of the ordinary for any engine running extended drains.

Thanks donny I've never had much with mine but I'll be sure to keep my cool if it ever does lol I have been watching these 3 that I work on and the most ive had in consumption was about a half quart other than the one the other two have virtually no loss

My previous F150 (2013 5.0, stolen) didn't burn any noticeable oil in a 10k mile OCI.

Don't know about the 5.0 in the new '13 in signature yet, haven't had it long enough.

The truck is now just over 85,800 miles and still no leaks/squeaks/rattles but a license plate light bulb burned out. Since I bought this truck-my first new Ford-my family has bought four more. An Expedition, a Focus, a Fusion and an Edge. All replaced non-Ford products.

It looks like Ford has gotten their stuff together in the last 7 years. Nothing like a near-bankruptcy to get a business to clean up its act.
