A relatives 2009 Elantra touring brake lights are acting up. The third brake light works but not the other 2. The bulbs are good. Does anyone know if the wiring comes from the 3rd brake light thus runs back through the hatch and is possibly broken? Access to a wiring diagram would be helpful but I haven't been able to locate one online.

Fuses are good and no haven't tried led bulbs.
Most likely the wiring in the hatch shorted somewhere in the part the connects the hatch to the body.
The Mk1 Focus hatch suffers this problem too, and the solution was a Dorman third brake light and new wiring
if it was "shorted" would that pop the fuse?
not necessarily
In Ford's case, it melted the third brake light and all the bulbs went out (broken filament breaks the circuit)
