2008 Jeep Patriot - leaking water from dome lights

Been having an insane winter in Wisconsin this year. After the snow melts, it seems to be leaking into my front dome light and even the middle dome light on the roof. I've owned this vehicle for 3 years, the previous owner told me it happened to her once as that's why half the stereo button were blacked out due to the water.

Is this expensive to fix? And if unfixed, (waiting to trade it in hopefully Spring 2020), what kind of damage will it do if any?

Could just be that the drains for the sunroof need to be cleaned out.

I was curious so I checked out the youtube video. Very poor design and that is something that quality control should have picked up before the car hit the market. One of many reasons why I refuse to buy cars with sunroof's anymore (my old camry and accord both leaked after 8-10 years).

if you have a sunroof.. its usually related to that.. if not.. no idea.

Any work done? ie windshield replacement.

No work done. Looks like it's just a bad design. Sold the Jeep and got my 2015 Nissan Juke.
