I rotated tires on a 2008 Altima with 31,000 miles. After, the road noise level increased with a subtle, but noticeable, cyclical thump. The original Continental tires looked fairly evenly worn with probably about 60% of the tread depth gone. Has anyone had experience with these tires? Noise? Perhaps tread separation?

Continental tires are cheap junk that the car manufacturer can get at a great discount. I have never seen long life or great performance from any type of OE Continental.

I'd say you have to bite the bullet and buy 4 really good tires, or just get used to the bad noise.

Put another 25K miles on them and then buy a set of quality tires.

Many people with Fords also complain about the OEM Continental tires on their vehicle.

The Continentals on my 2007 Cobalt are fairly well worn at 21Kmi. I wouldn't feel comfortable with them much beyond 30K.

Once tires get about 15-20,000 miles on them, their true character will start to show.
But bent rims and wheel balance should be checked to eliminate them from the equation [or fix it].

Haha, mechtech2, you are right. The way I put it is that tires start with a honeymoon period - they are nice and quiet for 10-15k miles (in my experience) then you get to enjoy the rest of their life with noise.

In my experience, the Continentals get a wear pattern that has nothing to do with alignment, tire pressure, or rotations (or lack thereof).

That is most probably where the noise is coming from.

Continental tires are awful. I was researching tires for my wife's car @ TireRack this weekend. More than a few Altima owners talked about how very bad the OEM tires were. Replacing them with a better brand is key.
