I have a brand new Honda Odyssey with a little over 2000 miles on the factory oil. The oil is looking dirty, as I would expect as the engine breaks in. The oil life monitor says the oil is at 70%. The owners manual says NOT to make an early change on the first oil change and that this will give a longer service life for the engine. It is killing me now not to change the oil, I would think that after 2000 miles of varied driving the engine would be broken in. I am about to make a long trip with the van this weekend and I can't decide whether or not to leave the factory oil in or change it...
Why would they tell you not to make an early first oil change? "Special Additives" to this factory oil for break-in? Does anybody know for sure?
Thanks for any help, wisdom or advice!!
