Haven't posted in along time but was kind of impressed by this UOA from our minivan with 12,297 miles on the oil using a Bosch distance Plus filter. The oil was something I got at Wal-Mart, probably a semi-synthetic Castrol product. Iron 14 Nikl .7 Chrm .4 Tita .2 Copp 3.6 Alum 4.5 Tin .1 Lead 1.7 Boro 38 Calc 2175 Magn 9.6 Moly 40 Sod 5 Phos 569 Sulf 2467 Zinc 688 Sili 16 Sulf 18% Nitr 13% Soot 0 Visc 10.3 Oxid 23% TAN 2.2

The van has 138,000 miles. We live in the country so we have to drive 10 miles just to get anywhere and my wife drives just over 20 miles to get to work. Plus we have a small AWD vehicle we drive in the winter as my wife has to get to work before they always get the roads plowed.

Hi, Which engine do you have in the van? Mine is the 3.8 liter engine. I probably fall in the severe duty category which is 3,000 mile oil changes. I am thinking of longer changes but do not know much about these engines and how hard they are on oil. I use chevron 5w20 or similar. Any recommendations for a longer oil change interval for the severe category?

Yes, it looks like a 30 grade viscosity to me.
