2006 Saab 93 uses Dexcool?

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like Dexcool. Saab was using some blue coolant, now they use a coolant that is orange/red.

have you looked at the owners manual? My 06 Vibe (toyota engine) owner's manual says to use dexcool. I thought it was going to be toyota red.

It just says to use "Saab approved coolant". That's real helpful, isn't it?

Well SAAB was bought by GM so I suppose they want you to put GM Dex in there now, but if you can get the old SAAB coolant I would stock up on it.

My 04 9-3 uses an orange coolant, but saab sells their own orange coolant - imported IIRC. Ill find my gallon and try to post a pic when I get a chance. Info is scarce. And even if it is dexcool... nothing wrong with that in and of itself... so long as youre on top of what gets mixed with it. In engines that were deigned with dex in mind, it seems to be fine. IIRC, saab coolant is 'lifetime' fill :rolleyes: JMH

Really? None of the ones Ive seen have had any blue coolant in them... not that they couldnt have this, its likely G12 like BMW uses... just seems strange for the 9-3SS to have it. JMH

Yea, it was the one they had inside the dealership. I popped the hood to look inside and I saw blue coolant.

what would happen if you flushed it all out and used prestone regular antifreeze?

I don't think Prestone makes "regular" antifreeze anymore. I think all they make now is a long-life Dexcool clone.

Factory fill Saab coolant is G34, similar to Dexcool--Saab dealerships refill it with Dexcool. Previous to that they used a blue coolant G48, same as BMW. This chart tells it all: http://www.englefieldoil.com/PDF/Zerex_chart.pdf
