I just bought a 2006 Grand Prix GT (supercharged) a few months ago. It has 72k miles on it now. The previous owner was a GM engineer and gave me all the service records. She went to the same oil place since the car was first bought and was changed around ever 7k miles with "Shell Formula GF-5 Synthetic". I just did my first oil change on the car with Pennzoil Platinum and a FRAM Ultra oil filter. I had a 99 grand am before this car, I used that same oil/filter combination and that car drove like a champ. Anything I should do differently with the Grand Prix?

Nope. Keep doing that, and that 3800 Series III (L32) V6 will be a very happy camper for a long time.
Have you changed the supercharger nosedrive oil yet or ATF? At 72k miles, both are due. Be warned, the supercharger oil will stink up the garage with the smell of rotten fish when it's changed.

Got the transmission fluid & filter done at the dealership as soon as I bought the car. I do need to get to the supercharger oil soon. I have money set aside for car repairs so I'll probably have that done at the dealership as well.

Nice! the lights are blacked out? Thats exactly what I did for the oil! Its almost ready for change, the OLM is at 5%. I got the dex cool out, was pretty bad. And the PS tucked in back was whining, fixed the level and cycled some new fluid through. Next is a transmission drain. Considering an aftermarket pan with a drain bolt so I can drain and fill like the Camry. other than that, its maybe the quietest smoothest engine I've had in a while. Be warned, it may burn some oil.

Yep I did have to add half a quart today. Not bad, it's been 3k since the last oil change. When summer comes around I plan on getting a coolant flush and change out the supercharger oil.

Peak Global Lifetime is what I'm using. Researched it for a while, was the consensus online. No 2-eha. And some RMI-25 to purge any gunk.
I would stick with PP and the Ultra oil filter.
I just picked up a 2006 GP GT a week ago today. Same color and everything! Differences are that mine has nearly twice the mileage (131k), the only maintenance records I have are what Carfax had (which was more than I thought it would), and mine needs more than just an oil change (already had to change out one wheel hub, ABS sensor wires, and tires, and probably will have to do CV half axle(s)). Yeah, I don't do a good job buying used cars.

Nice looking GP! They certainly do drive nice, especially on the highway. My g/f has an 05 GP and it has served her well.
those are excellent cars. i service a friend of the families 06 gp every 7k miles on pp and a purolator. it has like 140k on it now and it still runs and drives like a new car. great cars, looks like you bought a nice one!
